New Beginnings

Jan 04, 2016

2016 has arrived. Hoping that it has been a graceful arrival for you, too. I got to ring it in with a full and happy heart, hosting our grandson Finn for his first ever sleep-over.  Having just turned one year young, he is such a gorgeous embodiment of possibility and new perspectives. Sweet indeed and not without messes. Getting messy, playing with carefree abandon is half the fun. 11940029_10106623929124870_585946598_o.jpg

To be honest, I have been envisioning this year for weeks, yet amidst that holiday chaos, I have yet to put much to paper. Anyone else in the same boat? I do believe that not if but when we write down our intentions, our desires and aspirations, it makes it lots easier for the benevolent universe to conspire on our behalf. I have scheduled time for further planning, dreaming and exploring this week. It will include how I’ll FEEL in the process. I strongly encourage you to do the same if you haven’t already. In the meantime, I offer up this lovely reminder from one of my favorites, poet John O’Donohue. Here’s to a magical 2016 as you Design Your Destiny.

FOR A NEW BEGINNING

In out-of-the-way places of the heart,
Where your thoughts never think to wander,
This beginning has been quietly forming,
Waiting until you were ready to emerge.

For a long time it has watched your desire,
Feeling the emptiness growing inside you,
Noticing how you willed yourself on,
Still unable to leave what you had outgrown.

It watched you play with the seduction of safety
And the gray promises that sameness whispered,
Heard the waves of turmoil rise and relent,
Wondered would you always live like this.

Then the delight, when your courage kindled,
And out you stepped onto new ground,
Your eyes young again with energy and dream,
A path of plenitude opening before you.

Though your destination is not yet clear
You can trust the promise of this opening;
Unfurl yourself into the grace of beginning
That is at one with your life's desire.

Awaken your spirit to adventure;
Hold nothing back, learn to find ease in risk;
Soon you will be home in a new rhythm,
For your soul senses the world that awaits you.
